Ross Miley – Artists Statement 

My Painting is about feeling and emotion; it explores the ever-changing conditions and contexts of life. These ideas are reflected through colour interaction and intuitive mark-making which portrays movement, stillness, contradiction and tension. The feelings I explore in my practise are an emotional response to my surroundings, life experiences and music, they include happiness, sadness, isolation, calmness, loneliness and scepticism. Colour is an important motif in my work which is influenced by mood, seasons, location and nostalgia. I see painting as the perfect way to convey feeling as I believe that sometimes words can be lost or fall short of describing emotions.
